I watched The Joneses the other night and was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be really good (David Duchovny didn’t hurt its appeal either). It came out in 2009, so I’m curious as to why I hadn’t heard of it when it first came out. Anyway, the concept is really interesting: a “family” of people working for a marketing company are given things to make their lives enviable and thus make people around them want their things, which in turn drives up the sales of the things this family has. It was all secret to their neighbors and I couldn’t help but thinking, I wonder if my neighbors are fake families?
The best part of the whole thing is that it was on Netflix instant view. The joys of technology.
